Our Focus
The Safe Opportunities for Activity and Recreation (SOAR) action team is focused on building a community that allows individuals and families of all abilities to be active all year long. This is accomplished through:
- Promoting existing resources and activities
- Creating new opportunities to be active
- Partnering with local businesses to encourage creating a healthy work environment
- Sharing educational information on topics related to wellness

Help us spread the joy of sports and active play across Manitowoc County! Ready, Set, Play is a community-wide sports equipment drive and free distribution event designed to make it easier for youth and adults to stay active.
Equipment Donations
Collection: May 1 – May 19
Drop off during business hours at:
- Manitowoc- Two Rivers YMCA, 205 Maritime Dr., Manitowoc
- The Chamber of Manitowoc County, 1515 Memorial Dr., Manitowoc
- Boys & Girls Club of Manitowoc County, 3651 Dewey St., Manitowoc
Accepted Items of all sizes- Must be new or gently used and clean. All helmets must be new.
- Jump ropes
- Hula hoops
- Frisbees- regular, disc golf
- Balls- basketball, soccer, volleyball, football, golf
- Bats, Rackets, Sticks- baseball, tennis, hocky, lacrosse, golf, pickleball
- Gloves & Mitts- baseball, softball
- Cleats- soccer, baseball, football, track
- Protective gear- shin guards, elbow pads, knee pads, chest protectors
- NEW Helmets- bike, baseball, hockey
- Skates- roller, inline, ice skates- must have blade guards on
- Equipment bags- backpacks, drawstring, specialized equipment bags
- Small home fitness items- resistance bands, ankle/wrist weights, yoga mats
Not Accepted- used helmets, mouthguards, face masks, used water bottles, used clothing, damaged, dirty, or excessively worn items
Free Distribution Event
All donated items will be made available FREE to all kids, adults, and families during a special distribution event.
Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
Time: 8am-1pm (while supplies last)
Location: Manitowoc Farmer’s Market, 720 Quay St., Manitowoc
